Careers Counsellor – Al Ain, UAE

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Careers Counsellor to join our team in Al Ain, UAE. The successful candidate will provide high-quality career guidance and counselling to students, helping them make informed decisions about university pathways, higher education, career options, and future professional development.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience working within the GCC education sector, preferably in the UAE, and will be confident working with students, parents, schools, universities, and other stakeholders.

Candidates who are bilingual, particularly those fluent in English and Arabic, will be strongly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one and group career counselling to students.
• Guide students in identifying suitable university, college, and career pathways.
• Support students with subject selection, university applications, personal statements, and admissions planning.
• Advise students on higher education opportunities in the UAE, GCC, UK, US, Canada, Australia, and other international destinations.
• Conduct career assessments and help students understand their strengths, interests, skills, and career options.
• Develop and deliver career guidance workshops, university preparation sessions, and student information sessions.
• Build strong relationships with students, parents, teachers, school leadership, universities, and external organisations.
• Keep up to date with university admissions requirements, scholarship opportunities, employability trends, and changes within the higher education sector.
• Maintain accurate student records and counselling notes.
• Support students in developing realistic academic and career plans.
• Organise and participate in university fairs, career events, parent meetings, and related activities.
• Provide culturally appropriate and student-centred guidance within the UAE educational environment.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Counselling, Psychology, Education, Career Guidance, Human Resources, or a related field. A relevant professional qualification or Master's degree is an advantage.
• Proven experience as a Careers Counsellor, University Guidance Counsellor, College Counsellor, Student Counsellor, or similar role.
• Previous experience within the GCC, preferably the UAE, is highly desirable.
• Strong knowledge of university admissions and higher education pathways.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, counselling, and organisational skills.
• Ability to work effectively with students from diverse cultural and educational backgrounds.
• Bilingual English and Arabic language skills are strongly preferred.
• Professional, approachable, empathetic, and student-focused personality.
• Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
• Good knowledge of Microsoft Office and relevant student management or counselling systems.
• Candidates who are available to join immediately or at short notice will be preferred.
