Our client is an established and highly regarded British international school in Beijing, renowned for academic excellence, exceptional pastoral care and a strong sense of community. The school is now seeking an outstanding Deputy Head of Junior School (Pastoral & Wellbeing) to join their leadership team from August 2026.
The Role
This is a key strategic and operational leadership position within the Junior School. Working closely with the Head of Junior School, you will:
- Lead and further develop an exceptional pastoral and wellbeing provision for pupils aged 5–11
- Champion safeguarding, child protection and student wellbeing across the Junior School
- Embed a whole-school culture of care, respect and inclusion, aligned with British values
- Support, mentor and inspire staff to deliver outstanding pastoral practice
- Build strong partnerships with parents, ensuring open communication and trust
- Play an active role in the wider life and leadership of the school
This role is ideal for an experienced leader who combines empathy with high expectations, and who understands that wellbeing is the foundation of academic and personal success.
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who:
- Has significant experience in pastoral leadership within a British or British-style school
- Demonstrates a deep understanding of child wellbeing, safeguarding and pastoral systems
- Is a confident, visible and values-driven leader
- Communicates brilliantly with children, parents and colleagues
- Is excited by the opportunities and rewards of international education
- Experience in an international setting is highly desirable, but not essential for the right candidate.
