Deputy Principal (Pastoral) – Middle School
August 2026 start 
 
We are seeking an inspiring and visionary Deputy Principal (Pastoral) to join the leadership team of a new, world-class bilingual middle school opening in August 2026. This is a rare opportunity to help shape the culture and direction of a new campus that blends the best of Eastern and Western educational philosophy within a vibrant, values-driven community.
 
As Deputy Principal (Pastoral), you will lead the development and implementation of a holistic pastoral programme that nurtures the social, emotional, and personal growth of every student. Working closely with the Principal and senior leadership team, you will play a pivotal role in establishing a safe, inclusive, and aspirational school environment where students flourish both academically and personally.
 
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee all aspects of pastoral care, student well-being, and safeguarding across the middle school.
- Build and guide a dedicated pastoral team, including heads of year, counsellors, and homeroom teachers.
- Develop and implement policies and programmes that promote positive behaviour, student voice, and a strong sense of belonging.
- Collaborate with the academic leadership team to ensure the pastoral and academic strands of school life are fully integrated.
- Foster strong relationships with students, staff, and parents to support a caring and connected school community.
- Contribute strategically to school-wide planning and leadership as a key member of the Senior Leadership Team.
 
Qualifications and Experience
*Bachelor’s degree or higher in Education or a related field (Master’s preferred).
*Recognised teaching qualification and substantial leadership experience in pastoral care or student welfare.
*Demonstrated success in developing and leading pastoral systems, ideally within an international or bilingual school context.
*Deep understanding of adolescent development, safeguarding, and well-being practices.
*Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
*Commitment to bilingual, holistic education and cross-cultural understanding.

Minimum Application Requirements

Qualification:
Minimum Qualification Requirement: M.Ed, B.Ed or a relevant Bachelor's Degree with a Teaching Qualification
Experience:
7 Years

Must be western trained (USA, Canada, UK, Scotland, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand & South Africa)
Must be a native speaker of English
Prefer candidates with international experience
Teachers with a degree but no teaching qualification are NOT accepted
Experienced teachers with no qualification are NOT accepted
Non-western trained teachers who have worked in an international educational institute before are NOT accepted
Additional:
**International teaching experience is beneficial
**Bilingual teacher preferred but not essential
**Able to support the school residential programme
**Able to supervise and/or lead co-curricular activity during activity time
**Able to lead pastoral programme

Remuneration Package

Salary Range:
A salary   CNY (Chinese Yuan Renminbi) per month based on experience and qualification, 10-25 % Tax is applied
