Director of Learning Support – Middle School
August 2026 start
 
We are seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Director of Learning Support to join the founding leadership team of a new, bilingual middle school opening in August 2026. This is an exceptional opportunity to design and lead an inclusive learning programme from the ground up, shaping how the school supports every student to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
 
The successful candidate will bring a deep understanding of inclusive education, strong leadership skills, and the ability to build systems and teams that ensure every learner achieves their full potential within a bilingual, international context.
 
Key Responsibilities
*Lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive Learning Support framework across the middle school.
*Identify and assess students with a range of learning needs and coordinate appropriate support plans and interventions.
*Guide and coach teachers in inclusive classroom practices, differentiation, and individualised support strategies.
*Oversee the work of Learning Support teachers, assistants, and specialists, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team.
*Liaise with parents, external specialists, and other stakeholders to ensure cohesive and transparent communication about student progress.
*Work closely with academic and pastoral leaders to embed inclusion at the heart of the school’s philosophy and practice.
*Contribute strategically to the senior leadership team, supporting whole-school planning and student development initiatives.
 
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or above in Education, Special Education, Psychology, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
- Qualified teacher status and significant experience in Learning Support, SEN, or Inclusive Education.
- Proven success in leading or coordinating Learning Support departments, ideally within an international or bilingual school.
- Deep understanding of best practice in inclusive education, assessment, and intervention strategies.
- Strong leadership, collaboration, and communication skills.
- Empathy, patience, and a passion for helping diverse learners succeed in a rigorous academic environment.

Minimum Application Requirements

Qualification:
Minimum Qualification Requirement: M.Ed, B.Ed or a relevant Bachelor's Degree with a Teaching Qualification
Experience:
7 Years

Must be western trained (USA, Canada, UK, Scotland, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand & South Africa)
Must be a native speaker of English
Prefer candidates with international experience
Teachers with a degree but no teaching qualification are NOT accepted
Experienced teachers with no qualification are NOT accepted
Non-western trained teachers who have worked in an international educational institute before are NOT accepted
Additional:
**International teaching experience is beneficial
**Bilingual teacher preferred but not essential
**Able to support the school residential programme
**Able to supervise and/or lead co-curricular activity during activity time
**Able to lead pastoral programme

Remuneration Package

Salary Range:
A salary   CNY (Chinese Yuan Renminbi) per month based on experience and qualification, 10-25 % Tax is applied
