The Gulf English School is one of the most established schools in Doha, Qatar. The school was first established in 1993 offering the UK National curriculum of England and Wales to local and expatriate students.
The school caters for education from Nursery, Primary and through to Secondary as well as offering Arabic and Islamic studies as per the requirements from the Supreme Education Council of Qatar. Having started from being as small as just 2 villas the school now takes up two large premises covering nursery and primary together and secondary school separate. In 2009 the school developed further due to its success to provide more space for teaching and learning and therefore provide higher standards. The school’s reputation has dramatically increased because of the western staff, including administration it has employed to provide latest strategies in teaching and learning.
At the Nursery level the UK Early Years Foundation Stage is delivered, which smoothly transitions to the UK Primary curriculum. At Secondary school the Cambridge IGCSE is offered which leads on to AQA and Edexcel AS/A ‘level and the IB Diploma programme.
The school is now part of the British Schools in the Middle East and is accredited by the International Baccalaureate and the Council of International Schools. It will soon be having a revised visit for accreditation and is on target for successful sign-off.
The vast majority of the students who attend GES Qatar are local Qatari children whose family want them to receive the best of British curriculum education. The students speak Arabic as a first language and English as a second language. With this as a major factor in terms of teaching techniques GES are looking for educators who have skills, techniques and experience in delivering education to students where English is a second language.
GES Qatar are currently working very closely with SeekTeachers as they are looking to add to their already excellent team of educators as they expand their Key Stage 5 schedule. GES Qatar are also expanding departments to deliver a more horizontal curriculum into subjects such as Economics, Music and Food Tech to name a few.
The school provides a very competitive package with the scope of professional development. Teachers with ideally 2 years teaching experience looking to teach in a UK International School should come and teach at the Gulf English Speaking School.
Teachers at GES Qatar enjoy amazing accommodation a short 5 minutes away from the school. It is a fully furnished 1 bedroom apartment with all utilities paid for by the school. Staff at the school save money on travel to and from school with the ideal location of the accommodation.
