We are currently seeking a Univerity and Careers Counsellor on behalf of our established client in Shanghai.
Shanghai is a cosmopolitan city with so much to offer. The city is modern, developed, also known as "Oriental Paris". There are a lot of designer shops, shopping malls but you can also find fabric markets and tailor shops too, many people love to tailor-made their own clothes of their choice. Tian Zi Fang is the artistic and fashion culture area, a lot of artists set their design office and studio here. There are also many art & craft shops, bars and restaurants within the area, it is very popular with young people and expat.
Our client is a non-profit private school located in Shanghai city. The school has 3 separate campuses, one being the Primary school, one Middle School and one High school campus with boarding facilities. This position is based in the High school campus which is located in the suburb of Shanghai.
Duties and responsibilities include:
- Help develop the comprehensive University Counseling program for years 9-12.
- Guide students and parents through the university search and application process. Teach UniversityCounseling
workshops and network with Admissions Representatives to develop and maintain relationships with colleges.
- Meet individually with Year 11 and 12 students to guide them through all facets of the college search and application
process. This includes developing a college list and testing plans, writing essays/supplements, preparing students for
interviews, and all related activities relevant to application in a variety of countries.
- Meet with families to help them understand the process and appropriate fit. Present at parent education programs.
Help develop the university counseling curriculum and teach classes on a weekly basis.
- Utilize CIALFO to both keep students on track and to submit credentials to colleges and universities.
- Take on assigned responsibilities/projects for the University Counseling office.
- Network with admissions officers to build the reputation of the School including hosting visiting admissions
officers and introducing them to the school.
- Work with IB Coordinators and teachers to ensure completion of college requirements and recommendation letters
on a timely basis.
An ideal candidate for the position should have:
- Bachelor degree or higher in the relevant subject
- Relevant counselling experience in working with adolescents
- Experience working in a bilingual school setting preferred
- International experience in desirable
