As the school embarks on its exciting journey of launching IGCSE and A Level cohorts, the Director of Music will play a key part in bringing music to life for students across all age groups, from early years through to senior levels. Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the Whole School Music Program: Develop and implement a comprehensive music curriculum that spans all year groups, from primary to secondary, including IGCSE and A Level.
- Inspire & Engage: Motivate students to explore their musical talents, from individual instruments and voice to composition and performance. Foster a deep passion for music and creativity across the school.
- Curriculum Development: Work alongside other departments to create an integrated, exciting, and innovative music curriculum that aligns with the best practices of the British education system and the school’s unique culture.
- Extra-curricular Leadership: Establish and oversee a vibrant extra-curricular music program, including ensembles, choirs, bands, music theory classes, and performances. Coordinate school concerts, recitals, and community events that showcase the musical talents of students.
- Staff Development: Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of passionate music teachers and support staff. Ensure the team is equipped with the resources and professional development opportunities to thrive in their roles.
- Whole School Collaboration: Work closely with senior leadership, faculty, and parents to integrate music into the broader school culture, and support other departments in using music as a tool for holistic development.
- Oversee Facilities & Resources: Manage the school's music resources, including instruments, practice spaces, and technology, ensuring that the facilities are used efficiently and are constantly evolving with the needs of the students.
What We’re Looking For:
*A degree in Music (or a related field), and substantial experience in a senior leadership or departmental head role in music education.
*A proven track record of leading and developing whole school music programs, from primary through to IGCSE and A Level.
*A natural leader, with the ability to inspire and guide a team of talented music educators and support staff.
*A passion for music education and its power to transform students’ lives, coupled with a creative approach to teaching and learning.
*Strong organisational and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across departments and engage with students, parents, and the wider school community.
*A desire to foster a rich, inclusive music culture that engages all students, whether they are beginners or accomplished musicians.
*Experience in organising and managing school concerts, performances, and other public music events.
*Experience with IGCSE and A Level Music is highly desirable.
