Exciting Opportunity: Head of Boarding – Expanding British School in Lagos
August 2026 start
 
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and dynamic Head of Boarding to join a rapidly expanding British international school in Lagos, Nigeria. As the school prepares to launch its IGCSE and A Level cohorts, we are seeking a passionate leader to oversee and manage our boarding program, ensuring a safe, nurturing, and vibrant environment for our residential students.

Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the Boarding Program: Oversee the daily operation of the boarding house, ensuring the highest standards of care, discipline, and wellbeing for all students in residence.
- Student Welfare: Foster a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment, providing pastoral care that addresses the academic, social, and emotional needs of students.
- Supervision & Support: Manage and mentor a team of boarding staff, ensuring that they provide consistent and compassionate care, and help students feel at home within the school community.
- Develop Boarding Activities: Create and implement a dynamic, engaging program of extra-curricular activities, social events, and trips that enrich students' boarding experience and encourage personal growth.
- Collaboration with School Leadership: Work closely with the senior leadership team, academic staff, and parents to ensure seamless communication and holistic support for students.
- Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure that the boarding house is fully compliant with local regulations, safeguarding policies, and school standards, and that all risk assessments are regularly reviewed.
- Disciplinary Oversight: Take a proactive role in managing student behavior, resolving conflicts, and ensuring a positive, respectful living environment.
- Boarding House Administration: Manage all administrative aspects of the boarding house, including student records, timetables, and logistical requirements for activities and events.
 
What We’re Looking For:
*Experience in Boarding Leadership: Significant experience in a boarding school setting, with proven ability to lead and manage staff and students in a residential environment.
*Passion for Student Welfare: A deep commitment to the wellbeing of students and creating a positive, nurturing boarding environment.
*Strong Leadership Skills: Ability to inspire and lead a team of boarding staff, fostering a supportive and effective team dynamic.
*Exceptional Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with students, parents, staff, and school leadership effectively.
*Problem-Solving Ability: Strong conflict resolution skills and the ability to handle sensitive issues with discretion and professionalism.
*Organisational Skills: Proven ability to manage multiple responsibilities, including the day-to-day operations of the boarding house, and oversee a broad range of activities and programs.
*Cultural Sensitivity & Adaptability: Experience in an international or multi-cultural school environment would be an advantage, with the ability to understand and adapt to the unique needs of a diverse student body.

Minimum Application Requirements

Qualification:
Minimum Qualification Requirement: M.Ed, B.Ed or a relevant Bachelor's Degree with a Teaching Qualification
Experience:
7 Years

Must be western trained (USA, Canada, UK, Scotland, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand & South Africa)
Must be a native speaker of English
Prefer candidates with international experience
Teachers with a degree but no teaching qualification are NOT accepted
Experienced teachers with no qualification are NOT accepted
Non-western trained teachers who have worked in an international educational institute before are NOT accepted

Remuneration Package

Salary Range:
A salary   USD (U.S. Dollar) per annum based on experience and qualification, TAX FREE
