My client is a leading International Curriculum school delivering the finest education to local Emirati Students. Our client has grown in student size and has expanded once again to become one of the market leaders in the UAE.

I am seeking a HIGHLY qualified and experienced teacher of English to deliver either the Common Core or the IB MYP/DP curriculum. You need to be a teacher that promoted enquiry based learning and can thrive to have your students be engaged and well motivated to speak and learn English to the highest degree. 

Requirements to Apply
  1. A graduate in English from a regionally or internationally accredited college or university with a minimum of a Bachelor Degree
  2. Native English speaking (Born and educated in the country with native English speakers as the first language)
  3. Certified/licensed as a teacher in the home country or from the country of College/University degree
  4. Elementary Education (K – 5) teachers must have an Elementary Education license/certification 
  5. Minimum of two years teaching experience, if a holder of a Bachelor of Education Degree from a recognized accredited or nationally licensed University or College; or four years of teaching experience, if a holder of a Bachelor’s Degree in a secondary education content area from a recognized accredited or nationally licensed University or College
  6. Meet highly qualified definitions for teaching in their content areas as identified by coursework listed on their undergraduate college and postgraduate transcripts and defined by No Child Left Behind Act (USA)
  7. Two confidential letters of recommendation from immediate past and current employers that are hand signed on official letterhead
  8. Knowledgeable of effective teaching methodologies, assessment strategies, standards-based instruction, and strong content knowledge 
  9. Possess excellent interpersonal communication, collaboration, problem-solving, decision making and relationship building skills
  10. Understand and can use Standards Based teaching and assessment practices in the classroom 
  11. Is student centred in their delivery of instruction in the classroom,
  12. Understands the use of assessment data to design instruction that is differentiated based upon the individual and group instructional needs of students
  13. Uses technology to advance learning, manage information and deliver instruction effectively to students
  14. Is culturally competent and aware of the Cultural norms of the UAE
Strong Considerations:
  1. Advanced coursework and degrees (Masters (M.A., M. Ed, M.S.), Education Specialist (Ed.S), or Doctorate (Ed.D, PhD, J.D.)) from recognized internationally accredited or national university 
  2. Successful prior experience in teaching in the GCC region
  3. Experience teaching in American Common Core curriculum
  4. Experience in teaching in an International Baccalaureate World School (PYP, MYP, DP)
  5. Has received official IBO training and can provide a certificate indicating such training
  6. Experience in teaching High Scope Early Childhood Programs
  7. Has received official High Scope Training and can provide a certificate indicating such training
  8. Experience in teaching College Board approved Advanced Placement classes
  9. Has received official College Board Advanced Placement Training and can provide a certificate indicating such training
  10. Experience in sponsoring student extra-curricular activities
My client has campuses in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, Sharjah and Ras Al Khaimah. The school was established in 2002 to deliver an international curriculum to students that will allow them to continue their education and be able to compete as global citizens of the world. The campuses are purpose built and have a mix of expatriate staff and some local Arabic staff.  Accommodation for the school is close by, although the school does provide bus transportation to pick and drop teachers.

English Teacher Job Description
  1. Plan and teach lessons following the IB curricula that differentiate for individual student needs and support students whose first language is not English.
  2. Use a wide range of technologies and creative teaching styles.
  3. Regularly contribute to curriculum planning and development including interdisciplinary units of work and the development of transdisciplinary skills.
  4. Plan with colleagues to deliver effective team teaching when possible.
  5. Develop assessment tasks following IB guidelines and use a wide range of formative assessment tools.
  6. Supervise IBMYP personal projects and IBDP extended essays.
  7. Attend regular curriculum planning and student progress meetings.
  8. Keep parents informed about student progress and attending parent meetings.
 
Advisor Responsibilities
  1. Foster good home-school relationships, with regular communications to parents.
  2. Deliver care, guidance and support to their advisory group and taking responsibility for monitoring
  3. students’ academic and personal development as they progress through the programme.
  4. Implement the PSHE curriculum.
  5. Work with students to develop personalised learning goals and strategies for achieving these goals.
  6. Work with the IB Co-ordinators to ensure each student has opportunities to undertake meaningful
  7. service activities.
Whole school responsibilities
  1. Take an active part in the provision of extra-curricular activities.
  2. Take an active part in creating a distinctive ethos for the school and encouraging high standards of
  3. conduct according to the school behaviour policy.
  4. Safeguard and promote the welfare of children.
  5. Collaborate professionally with colleagues on the growth and development of academic and social
  6. programmes at the school
  7. Engage professionally with new initiatives undertaken by the school.
Administrative responsibilities
  1. Keep up-to-date records of attendance, curriculum, assessment tasks and assessment data
  2. Prepare student reports and references, and other reports as required.
  3. Carry out supervision at break times, lunch times and other times as required.
  4. Participate as required in the preparation for inspections, authorisations and accreditations.
  5. Prepare documentation for IB external assessment.
Professional learning
  1. Demonstrate a genuine, active interest in on-going personal professional development, including through participation in professional learning groups in the school.
  2. Commit to deepening a professional approach to digital integration.
  3. Contribute to initiatives for innovation in the use of learning technologies.
  4. Keep up-to-date with developments in the IB.

Salary range, dependent upon years of experience and qualification:  AED 12,100 to 15,675 per month

Salary Range:
