About the School:
Our client is an expanding IB World School located in Moscow, offering the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (PYP), Middle Years Programme (MYP) and Diploma Programme (DP) to a diverse international community. The school is seeking an outstanding Head of Science, with a teaching specialism in Biology or Chemistry, to lead their successful Science Department. This is a key leadership role suited to a dynamic educator with a deep understanding of the IB curriculum and a passion for innovative science education.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the Science Department across MYP and DP.
- Inspire and support a team of science teachers to deliver engaging, inquiry-based learning.
- Teach Biology or Chemistry at MYP and DP levels, including Internal Assessments and Extended Essays.
- Oversee curriculum planning, assessment, and reporting in line with IB standards.
- Promote student achievement and foster a culture of academic excellence and curiosity.
- Support the professional development of staff and lead departmental collaboration.
- Contribute to whole-school initiatives as part of the academic leadership team.
Candidate Profile:
*A relevant university degree in Biology or Chemistry and a recognised teaching qualification.
*At least 5 years of teaching experience, with recent experience at IB MYP and/or DP level.
*Previous leadership or middle leadership experience within a Science Department.
*Demonstrated ability to lead curriculum development and drive high academic standards.
*Strong interpersonal, organisational, and communication skills.
*Commitment to international education and fostering intercultural understanding.
Desirable:
*IB workshop training and/or experience as an IB examiner.
*Experience in international schools or working with diverse student populations.
*Familiarity with digital learning platforms and data-informed teaching.
