Science Instructional Coach | India | Teach in India - August 2024 start
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Science Instructional Coach to join our international school in India. The Science Instructional Coach will collaborate with teachers, administrators, and curriculum specialists to enhance science education through effective coaching, professional development, and curriculum support. This role is pivotal in fostering instructional excellence and student achievement in science.
Key Responsibilities:
**Instructional Coaching:**
Collaborate with science teachers to improve instructional practices aligned with best practices and standards.
Conduct classroom observations and provide constructive feedback to teachers on pedagogy, content delivery, and student engagement.
Model effective teaching strategies and differentiation techniques.
**Professional Development:**
Design and deliver targeted professional development sessions for science faculty based on identified needs and goals.
Coordinate workshops, seminars, and training sessions to enhance science content knowledge and teaching skills.
Facilitate peer learning communities and action research projects to promote a culture of continuous improvement.
**Curriculum Development and Alignment:**
Work closely with curriculum specialists to develop and refine science curricula, ensuring alignment with standards and educational objectives.
Assist in the selection and adaptation of instructional materials, resources, and technology tools to enhance science instruction.
Provide input on assessment strategies and support the development of formative and summative assessments.
**Data Analysis and Goal Setting:**
Analyze student achievement data to identify trends, strengths, and areas for improvement in science education.
Collaborate with teachers to set instructional goals and action plans based on data-driven insights.
Monitor progress towards goals and adjust coaching strategies accordingly.
**Teacher Support and Mentorship:**
Offer individualized support and mentorship to science teachers to improve their teaching practices and student outcomes.
Foster a positive and collaborative professional environment where teachers feel supported and valued.
**School-wide Initiatives:**
Contribute to broader school initiatives related to curriculum development, interdisciplinary projects, and STEAM integration.
Participate in faculty meetings, committees, and leadership teams to advocate for effective science instruction.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Science Education, Curriculum and Instruction, or related field.
- Teaching certification and substantial teaching experience in science (biology, chemistry, physics, etc.).
- Proven success in instructional coaching, professional development, or curriculum leadership.
- Deep understanding of curriculum design, educational standards, and assessment practices.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive relationships with faculty and stakeholders.
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to deliver engaging presentations and workshops.
- Data-driven mindset with the ability to analyze data and use it to drive instructional decisions.
- Experience working in international or multicultural educational settings is preferred.
