We are seeking a dynamic and experienced English Instructional Coach to join our international school in India. The English Instructional Coach will collaborate with educators to enhance English language and literacy instruction based on the USA curriculum standards. This role is instrumental in fostering a culture of excellence in English education and supporting professional development for teachers.
English Instructional Coach Job Description:
**Instructional Coaching:**
Collaborate with English language teachers to improve instructional practices aligned with the USA curriculum standards.
Conduct classroom observations and provide constructive feedback on pedagogy, literacy strategies, and differentiated instruction.
Model effective teaching techniques and strategies to enhance student language proficiency and literacy skills.
**Professional Development:**
Design and deliver targeted professional development sessions for English faculty based on identified needs and curriculum objectives.
Coordinate workshops, seminars, and training sessions to enhance English language content knowledge and teaching skills.
Support the implementation of research-based literacy practices and strategies in classroom instruction.
**Curriculum Development and Alignment:**
Work closely with curriculum specialists and English department heads to develop and refine the English language curriculum based on the USA standards.
Assist in selecting and adapting instructional materials, resources, and technology tools to enhance English language instruction and student learning.
Ensure alignment of assessments with curriculum objectives and provide guidance on effective assessment practices.
**Data Analysis and Goal Setting:**
Analyze student performance data to identify trends, strengths, and areas for improvement in English language proficiency and literacy.
Collaborate with teachers to set instructional goals and action plans based on data-driven insights.
Monitor progress towards goals and adjust coaching strategies to support continuous improvement in English education.
**Teacher Support and Mentorship:**
Provide individualized support and mentorship to English language teachers to enhance their teaching practices and instructional effectiveness.
Foster a collaborative and supportive professional learning community where teachers can share best practices and resources.
Promote a culture of reflective practice and ongoing professional growth among English faculty.
**School-wide Initiatives:**
Collaborate with school leadership and department heads on school-wide initiatives related to literacy development, writing across the curriculum, and language acquisition.
Participate in faculty meetings, committees, and professional learning communities to contribute to school-wide goals and initiatives.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in English Education, Applied Linguistics, or related field.
- Teaching certification and substantial experience in teaching English language and literacy at the middle or high school level.
- Proven track record of instructional coaching, professional development, or curriculum leadership.
- At least 3 years of experience ideally in Common Core and the IB is beneficial as the school will deliver IB PYP and DP
- In-depth knowledge of the USA curriculum standards for English language arts.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive relationships with faculty and stakeholders.
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to deliver engaging presentations and workshops.
- Data-driven mindset with the ability to analyze student data and use it to inform instructional decisions.
- Experience working in international or multicultural educational settings is an advantage.
