Job Description:
The school is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Grade 4/5 English & Social Studies Teacher to their team. The successful candidate will have a strong background in teaching these subjects within an IB framework and a passion for fostering critical thinking, creativity, and a love of learning in young students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging English and Social Studies lessons in alignment with the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) curriculum.
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment that encourages student participation and inquiry-based learning.
- Assess and monitor student progress, providing timely and constructive feedback to students and parents.
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop interdisciplinary units of inquiry and integrate the IB Learner Profile into daily teaching practices.
- Participate actively in professional development opportunities and contribute to the school’s continuous improvement initiatives.
- Engage in school community activities and events, promoting a culture of collaboration and respect.
- Maintain accurate records of student performance, attendance, and other required documentation.
- Uphold the school’s mission, vision, and values in all professional interactions and responsibilities.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, English, Social Studies, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Valid teaching certification.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience teaching English and Social Studies at the primary level, preferably within an IB school.
- Thorough understanding of the IB PYP framework and its implementation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in using educational technology and digital tools to enhance learning.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural environment.
