School Principal in a bilingual curriculum school located in Oman

The role of the Principal is to ensure the efficient and effective running of this IB International School, and to set the school strategy, develop and manage its relationship with stakeholders and the relevant government authorities.
 
The Principal takes overall responsibility for the management and leadership of the school and reports to the senior management for the delivery of education, use of all funds and resources made available to the school, and the proper exercise of the financial, contractual and other responsibilities and authority delegated.

Requirements:

Recent Health & Safety training.
Minimum of 4 years experience in a similar role, plus 6 years experience as a teacher. 
Significant leadership experience with demonstrable outcomes.
Ability to work as part of a team and to build high-performing teams.
High-level interpersonal skills and excellent emotional intelligence.
Ability to solve problems, make decisions and resolve conflict.
Ability to communicate with a range of staff, students, parents and other stakeholders.
Cultural sensitivity and respectful of Islamic and Omani customs and traditions.

ACCOUNTABILITY AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Actively promote the Vision and Mission of this IB International School.
  • Work with the owner company management to further develop and implement the strategic and development plans for the school.
  • Ensure that the vision and values of the school are sustained and that priority is given to excellent relationships between staff, students and parents.
  • Seek ways to improve and develop the school and make recommendations to the Owner company management as and when appropriate.
  • In conjunction with the school’s senior management, review and develop the on-going educational improvement plans and obtain the support and commitment of the Owner company management and staff for the implementation.
  • Provide overall leadership to all staff within the school, fostering a culture of dedicated engagement, openness, and a sense of involvement.
  • Ensure that the senior leadership roles and responsibilities are clear and that the highest standards of performance are expected and delivered at all times.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of policies and procedures, including to ensure that appropriate performance management is in place for the whole staff.
  • Foster amongst the staff community a strong commitment to the vision and values of the school.
  • Facilitate good communication processes within the whole school community and seek and provide feedback on a systematic basis.
  • Ensure that appropriate policies and procedures are in place to recruit, develop and retain staff and foster a rewarding and professional working environment.
  • Carry lead responsibility for all required policies, ensuing that appropriate procedures and arrangements are in place and kept under review in order to ensure a school-wide adhesion to all policies.
  • Provide strong leadership to the whole school community, overseeing the continual development and delivery of the best possible education to students and maintaining the highest standards in line with current international best practice.
  • Ensure continuous and effective evaluation and improvement of curriculum and delivery, and demonstrate knowledge of current changes in the international curriculum and international good practice.
  • Ensure that all required arrangements are in place to facilitate inspections of the school grounds and facilities.
  • Oversee procedures relating to assessment and regulation, reporting on student performance and progression, and ensure the highest standards of behaviour and attendance.
  • Ensure that lessons and activities delivered by staff across the school provide appropriate challenge and high expectation for all learners.
  • Take a lead role in utilising suitable emerging technologies to enhance the learning environment.
  • Support, continue to develop and monitor the comprehensive programme of extracurricular activity across the school.
  • Ensure that the security and pastoral care of all students remains an essential part of the school and its day to day activities.
  • Be responsible for the overall management of the school and be accountable, with the Finance Officer, to the senior management for the use of all funds and resources made available to it.
  • Manage, monitor and review the range, quality and quantity of resources in order to improve the quality of learning and teaching and secure efficiency and value for money, keeping the senior management informed of any surpluses or deficits.
  • Lead and develop the school’s marketing and development programmes including taking an active role in representing the school within the community.
  • Ensure that creative marketing strategies are in place, taking all appropriate opportunities to promote the school and ensure positive relationships with current and potential parents.
  • Foster and further develop links with international schools and universities to develop the global
  • outlook of the school and extend the opportunities for all its students.
  • Be responsible for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all students within the school.
  • Ensure that the school’s Health & Safety policies and procedures are up to date, and communicated throughout the school community.

Minimum Application Requirements

Qualification:
Minimum Qualification Requirement: M.Ed, B.Ed or a relevant Bachelors Degree with a PGCE/PGDE (QTS)
