Academic Advisor needed in Saudi Arabia | International School
I am seeking an experienced Academic Advisor to join my client as of August 2020. My client is an American curriculum school serving a mainly Saudi population of students. As the school is growing and expanding, they are needing experienced staff that are able to lead by example and have proven experience to help raise the rest of the staff in the school. As an Academic Director your role will be to work closely with the whole school Principal and the Curriculum Designer to ensure that teachers are delivering a high and consistent level of teaching and learning.
The ideal candidate will have experience of delivering of observing lessons, delivering outstanding lessons, providing feedback to teachers, working 1-1 to or in groups to ensure the department and school are working in line with the schools vision, ethos and mission and that teaching is done to promote and enquiry based learning model.
Requirements to apply

Degree in English, maths or science
-
A valid teaching qualification e.g. valid teaching license or PGCE etc

Ideally an M.Ed
-
A minimum of 10 years in education, ideally in a similar role.

Experience of leading in the GCC is beneficial
-
Western trained
-
A high command of written and spoken English

Up to date with modern pedagogy
The school opened its doors in 2004, with a purpose built building delivering the USA Common Core at Primary, Middle and High School and follows the California state Common Core programme. Students study towards the American Diploma. The core teaching subjects are delivered in line with American standards. However the Arabic and Islamic studies are delivered in line with MOE's requirements. Most of the teachers are from Arabic backgrounds where English is not the first language and so you will be required to turn-key the pedagogy over time by showing and sharing good practise. You will be required to work with the Curriculum Developer to ensure the curriculum delivered is attainable for the students the schools have. In addition you may be involved in part of the hiring process to identify key strengths of candidates that would be able to work to the high standards you will set for teachers

Job Description/Responsibilities:

Responsible reviewing the curriculum

Working with the Curriculum Developer to raise the framework or amend to make sure it is in line with the students ability and understanding

Carry out model lessons

Shadow teachers

Carry out lesson observations and provide feedback

Deliver INSET's where needed, in departments, 1-1 or whole school

Supervise staff & enforce school policy

Ensure facilities are maintained and cleaned according to state regulations
