Program Highlights
The Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC) was established in 2005, by His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan, the UAE President, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces and the Ruler of Abu Dhabi. ADEC seeks to develop education and educational institutions in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, implement innovative educational policies, plans and programs that aim to improve education, and support educational institutions and staff to achieve the objectives of national development in accordance with the highest international standards.
 
Teaching Levels and Subjects
 
Schools are divided into:  
  1. Kindergarten (Early Years) 
  2. Cycle 1 (Primary), 
  3. Cycle 2 (Middle School) 
  4. Cycle 3 (Secondary/High School) 
ADEC is currently seeking qualified Licensed Medium teachers for the following assignments: 
  1. Kindergarten level - teaching English, Math and Science (plus other subjects as required) and co-teaching with a local Arabic teacher. This position is for Females only
  2. Cycle 1 (Grades 1-5) - Teach English, Math and Science integrated as you will be a homeroom teacher 
  3. Cycle 2 (Grades 6-9) - You must be subject specific and able to teacher either English, Math or Science (Middle school subject specific teachers)
  4. Cycle 3 (Grade 10-12) - You must be subject specific and be able to teach English, Chemistry, Physics, Biology or Health & Physical Education 
Note: Co Teaching would be done at KG and some primary schools. For high school you will have your own classroom
 
The majority of the students will be local Emirati children and you will be working alongside other Western teachers, Emirati teachers and Arabic expatriate teachers.
 
Procedure for Recruitment
If you meet the requirements for a Licensed teaching role,  a SeekTeachers International Consultant will contact you to set up a pre-screening interrview. Candidates successful will need to attend a virtual interview with Abu Dhabi Education Officials in a selected city across North America, the UK or Australia and New Zealand.

Candidates will need to bring necessary paperwork to their virtual interview including an up to date police check and your attested documents.
 
A SeekTeachers International Consultant will advise you regarding interview details if you are invited to an interview session. Your SeekTeachers International Consultant will walk you through the application process and be your point of contact for any questions or concerns.

IMPORTANT:  One of the unique features of this program is that teachers are hired directly by  ADEC and therefore can be assigned to one of the 296 schools in one of three areas:
  1. Central Capital Region - Abu Dhabi City
  2. Eastern Region - Al Ain
  3. Western Region - Madinat Zayed, Ruwais, Ghayathi, Liwa, Sir Baniyas, Marfa, Sila and Dalma (island)
Teachers WILL NOT know the location or school they have been assigned to until they arrive for orientation.

If you have your heart set in a city and that is the only place you feel you wish to work for then this program is probably not the most suitable option for you. You may check all the other vacancies on our website for schools in the city that you wish to live and work in. Flexibility is required for this program. 
 
Salary and Benefits
  • Monthly TAX FREE Salary of 12,300-20,400 AED per month, depending on experience and 
  • GBP: 2700 - 4500
  • Euro: 3000 - 5000
  • AUD: 4400 - 7700
  • NZ: 4700 - 8300
  • CDN: 4300 - 7300
  • USD: 3300 - 5500 
Note: (depends on exchange rate)

  1. FREE Yearly air ticket provided for teacher, spouse and up to 3 dependants under 18 of age
  2. FREE Health Insurance  covered by employer for teacher, spouse and up to 3 dependants under 18 of age
  3. FREE Un-furnished accommodation  provided
  4. FREE furniture allowance of 20,000 AED (one time)
  5. FREE Visa for employee, spouse and up to 3 dependants under 18 years of age
  6. Gratuity bonus of 1 one month for each year complete, paid at the end of the contract/end of service
Additional Information
  1. Working Hours are 35-40 hours/week, 5 days a week (Sunday - Thursday)
  2. Class sizes vary but are usually between 15-30 students
  3. Vacation varies between mid-July to September; plus all national holidays
  4. Duration of Contract is 3 years
Requirements to Apply:
The requirements set out by ADEC across the program
  1. Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited University 
  2. Full Teaching License or qualification (state/national/provincial)*
  3. Native English speaker with excellent written and spoken English
  4. Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience
  5. Qualififications must be from a western country
  6. Clear medical record
  7. Clear police record
 
*Please note that a TESOL/CELTA is not a teaching license.
