SeekTeachers is seeking for a Head of Mathematics to join our client team in the capital city of Egypt, Cairo. The school is located in a large expat community in Cairo with a short distance to commercial buildings, shopping complex and other amenities.
The school is well-known for its academic reputation to the locals and has been established more than 10 years ago. The school provides UK National curriculum and International Baccalaureate programme for the students from Key Stage 1 to Key Stage 5/IB Diploma Programme. Students are all aged between 3 to 18 year old. There are over 1000 students in the school with 80% of them are from the local and 20% expatriates coming from UK, USA, Europe, Canada, New Zealand and Asia.
The main school campus is consisted of 2 three storey buildings, one being as the primary block and the other as secondary block. The school is set on a large piece of land and equipped with facilities such as 25m swimming pool, auditorium, sports hall, sports field, dance room, air-conditioned classrooms, science labs, ICT labs, canteen and basketball court. The teaching staff in the school are all fully-qualified, an English native speaker and most of them are British, Australian, New Zealander, Americans and Canadians, with a small 15% of the staff are from the local families.
Job duties and responsibilities:
**Develop broad curriculum in the subject that meets the aims of the school
**Raise the standards of student attainment and achievement within the whole curriculum
**Monitor and support the student progress and learning development
**Oversee day to day management within the department
**Strong management skills
**Manage staff including the recruiting, deployment and training
**Ensure there is consistency in the teaching team
**Engage in Departmental Self Review to review the quality of teaching and learning on a regular basis
**Ensure policies and procedures are up to date
**Ensure the department runs, performs and develop efficiently
**Support members in the department in their responsibilities
**Responsible for the selection of teaching materials and the methods of teaching used by members of the Department
**Work together with other Departments in cross-curriculum activities
**Responsible for organisational and administrative tasks, such as staff duties
**Attend department, school and parent meeting
**Ensure the staff in the department involve in the development planning
**To report to the Principal if there are any issues arise within the department
**Main the order, discipline and health and safety of the students
