EAL Coordinator | Teaching job in China | August 2015 | IB school
A leading international school in China is currently recruiting for an EAL coordinator to join their strong team this August. This position is permanent and based in Wuxi, Jiangsu.
The international caters for children from pre-school up to Year 6, delivering the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IBPYP) curriculum. The school has about 400 students at present with over 20 different nationalities and 50 teaching staff. All the teaching staff are experienced and fully qualified.
The school is looking for an experienced and passionate EAL Coordinator to join them this August. An ideal candidate should be fully qualified teacher with minimum of 3 years management experience in EAL.
Duties and responsibilities:
- To lead, manage and work collaboratively with mainstream teachers
- To support staff to plan and deliver effective English Language Support to English as additional language students
- To monitor student's progress and mark work in line with school policy
- To liaise with all staff to ensure EAL students are supported, develop and maintain EAL area
- To take a leadership role in developing a learning environment and curriculum that recognises values and enhances cultural and linguistic diversity
- To develop and maintain links with parents to meet the needs of EAL students in order to ensure that educational achievement and personal development are maximised
- To ensure continuing professional development for themselves and others to secure high standards EAL teaching
- To undertake such other duties under the instructions of the Head Teacher
- To participate in the recruitment and interview process for members of the department
