We are seeking an inspirational and experienced Founding Head of Primary to lead the development and launch of the Primary School section of our client's new British international school in the vibrant city of Guangzhou, China. Opening in August 2026, the school will offer a world-class British education tailored to the international community and forward-thinking Chinese families.
As a key member of the founding leadership team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the educational vision, recruiting and developing outstanding teachers, and establishing a dynamic, nurturing, and high-achieving primary learning environment from the ground up.
About the School
The school is being developed by an experienced team of international education professionals in collaboration with respected local partners. The campus, currently under construction, will feature state-of-the-art facilities and a design that supports 21st-century teaching and learning. Rooted in the values and rigour of the UK curriculum, our approach will be innovative, inclusive, and deeply child-centred.
The Role
As Founding Head of Primary, you will:
- Lead on the design and implementation of the Primary curriculum, aligned with the English National Curriculum and international best practices.
- Recruit, inspire, and manage a high-quality team of educators.
- Champion child wellbeing, pastoral care, and the holistic development of every pupil.
- Build strong relationships with families and the wider school community.
- Work closely with the Principal and senior leadership to ensure a successful school opening and sustained excellence.
The Ideal Candidate
You will be:
- An experienced Primary Headteacher, Deputy Head, or equivalent, with a strong track record in British international or UK-based schools.
- A passionate educator with a deep understanding of EYFS and Key Stages 1 and 2.
- An outstanding communicator and team leader who thrives in a collaborative, start-up environment.
- Culturally agile, internationally minded, and motivated to make a lasting impact.
- Experience in launching or significantly developing a new school or phase would be a distinct advantage.
