SeekTeachers is urgently seeking an experienced University & Careers Counsellor to join our client in the next academic year.
Our client is a non-profit bilingual school located in the beautiful Shanghai city, offering a unique Year 1 - 12 educational programme that integrates elements of Shanghai and international curricula, culminating in Years 9-12 with the IGCSE and IB Diploma Programmes, which are complemented by core components of the Shanghai curriculum.
Minimum requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in related field required, advanced degree(s) preferred
- Have a min of 3 years experience from an accredited School
- Experience working in an International School and/or setting a plus
- Experience working in a residential setting (School, camp, International travel supervision)
- Experience supervising an afternoon activity. Athletic Coaching or personal sports interest preferred
- Experience participating in the pastoral program
- Bi-lingual would be an advantage but not essential
- Educators with excellent communication skills, who show initiative and who can easily adapt to change
- Good Team player.
The main responsibilities of the position include:
- Meet individually with Year 11 and 12 students to guide them through all facets of the college search and application process including developing a college list and testing plans, preparing interviews and all related activities relevant to the application in a variety of countries
- Meet with families to help them understand the process and appropriate fit
- Help develop the college counselling curriculum and teach classes on a weekly basis
- Take on assigned responsibilities/projects for the College Counselling office
- Work closely with coordinators and teachers to ensure completion of college requirements and recommendation letters on a timely basis
- Help plan and chaperone college tours and other school activities
- Contribute to the online bilingual College Handbook resource
