Remuneration Package
You’ll find that the package options offered by the schools in the South American region is incredibly good and, keeping in mind that the cost of living is often under one third what it costs to live in the UK or USA, the packages offered can become extremely attractive.
Typically, salaries tend to fall between $25 and $45k with the money being paid partially in local currency, partially in dollars and partially in pounds sterling. On top of this, many schools offer an end of contract bonus as an incentive to finish the contract and earn a little bit extra. Additionally, some schools pay a pension scheme contribution if you’re planning for the future.
Accommodation is usually paid for or provided by the school and is typically a high quality apartment or flat based somewhere in the near vicinity of the school and a settling in allowance is often provided too, to help you settle in a little more comfortably, quickly and easily.

Also, not only are return tickets provided for you and your family at the end of your contract but also your medical insurance is paid for you and your family by the school. You may even find that your children at the school are given a greatly lowered or even a completely free schooling rate!

Important Information
You do not need to know Spanish or Portuguese to teach as all subjects are taught in English, however, you’ll probably find that lacking one or both of these languages may restrict you in everyday life. Luckily, most schools provide their teachers with free language tuition so you’ll have an easier time during your two-year contract. If you enjoy the experience you may even find that you have an opportunity to renew your contract!
