The "Time To Teach" programme has been developed by the Ministry of Education of Ecuador and is the first of its kind in the country. This was launched by the Edificar Foundation organisation to developed the English standards in the country. The jobs exist in all locations in the coastal region of Ecuador!

There are 2 types of contract
Long Term Contract (10 months)
May 2017 to end the last day of 9th March 2018 in the Coastal Region. (Teachers accepted into the program can arrive during April 2017)
Short Term Contract (5 months)
May 2017 to September 2017 (Teachers accepted into the program can arrive during April 2017)
Mid-September 2017 to end the last days of March 2018 (5 months) (Teachers accepted into the program can arrive as late as 30th September 2017)

English as a Second Language Teacher
Min Yrs. Exp Needed
**Bachelor’s Degree - ideally in English but not essential
**CELTA/DELTA or TEFL
**C1 English Level in accordance to the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) for NON-NATIVE SPEAKERS or
**B2 English Level with certification
**Have a valid passport with at least 1 year's validity
**Have a clear police record

**Not prohibited from entering or working in Ecuador

Salary and Benefits for Teachers
Monthly volunteer living allowance for the teacher’s personal expenses. A total of $386 per month (Minus 8% of taxes).
FREE Airline tickets for Long Term Teaching Position will be a round trip flight from the teacher’s current place of residence to Ecuador
FREE Airline tickets for Short Term Teaching Position will be a one-way trip flight from Ecuador to the teacher’s current place of residence. The flight to Ecuador will be paid by the ESL Teacher.
FREE Visa application process made by the non-profit organisation to participate as a volunteer teacher.
FREE Private, national, pre-paid medical insurance for the teacher during their stay in the program.
FREE Accommodation and 2 meals provided by the host family whose children study at the school where the volunteer teacher will be working.
FREE Meals: host families provide 2 meals (breakfast and dinner). The volunteer must cover for lunch expenses.
FREE Induction and training regarding the Ecuadorian public education system and the English teaching plan developed by the Ministry of Education.
FREE Information on tourist attractions and tours which volunteer teachers can use to plan their travels in Ecuador.
At the end of the program participants will receive a diploma signed by the Ministry of Education and the non-profit organization in recognition of their valuable contribution as a volunteer teacher in the ¨Time to Teach¨ Program.
It is part of the recruitment process to pass a psychological test.
If you are successful, you will be required to pay a deposit of $500 to secure your spot. The deposit will be a confirmation of your commitment to the "time To Teach" programme. The deposit is fully refundable once you complete the contract. If you cancel or withdraw the program, the deposit is not refunded.
ESL Job Description
You will be required to work as an English Teacher/ESL teacher
You will be required to work 40 labour hours per week (Monday to Friday)
You will have a morning or an evening shift to teach
Each class is 45 minutes long. You will have 30 academic hours
You will be given 10 hours of lesson planning and other activities such as meeting with parents, teachers and cultural activities
You may be required to assist in outdoor activities
Classes vary from 40 up to 45 students per class
The age of students can vary from 5 up to 18 years of age
You may be required to attend training and events related to the programme. These will be coordinated by the Ministry of Education
You must abide by the Volunteer Handbook always and adapt to meet the cultural surroundings of Ecuador.
You are a role model for young students and so should always uphold the values of the country and the ethos of the "Time To Teach" Project
