Within the GCC, it’s reported that the region’s international schools have managed to rake in over $6 billion in fees (£3.6 billion) and today have over 982 schools of their kind within the region. From these countries, the flagship is clearly the United Arab Emirates which today has 439 international schools, followed by Saudi Arabia with 195, Qatar with 130, Kuwait with 80 and Oman with 58.
The latter two have also recently seen a rapid influx of students due to recent developments; Kuwait teaches around ninety-thousand students and Oman teaches around sixty-thousand. In addition, despite Asia being the crowned champion of international schools (again), the Gulf and South America are incredibly likely to rise to match Asia’s dominance as appetites for a world-class quality education continue to dramatically increase.
In the GCC’s only international business conference for private and international schools, the IPSEF, a wide array of issues concerning the region’s private education market are also due to be reviewed on September 23rd-25th 2014 in Dubai’s Knowledge Village Auditorium. The theme for this year’s conference is “Delivering Best Practice in the Middle East.â€
