This school is looking to recruit a qualified and experienced candidate to take on the role of the Head of School.

My client is an established school delivering both the UK and the national curriculum and uses the Cambridge International Examinations.  Located in Abuja, the school caters to a population of around 800 students ranging from nursery up to Secondary school. 

Requirements: 
  • BA Degree in a relevant subject 
  • Teaching qualification such as Bachelor of Education, PGCE or PGDE from Nigeria or UK
  • International experience would be a plus 
  • Experience as a Head of School 
  • Must have hands-on experience in 21st-century teaching 
  • Knowledge of the Nigerian culture would be a plus 
Job duties:
  • Support and Board of Directors and all Principals to ensure that the vision of the School is clearly articulated, shared, understood and acted upon by all stakeholders.
  • Translate the vision into articulate plans that will enhance the School and sustain School improvement.
  • Ensure that there is a continuous focus in the School on pupils’/students’ achievement and using data to effectively monitor the progress in every child’s learning
  • Ensure that a diverse and inclusive curriculum is in place while following the statutory guidance to be responsive to the needs of individual pupils.
  •  Monitor and implement practices, which ensure outstanding practice, are understood and implemented by all stakeholders.
  • Assess, evaluate and monitor the quality of teaching and learning and promoting improvement strategies.
  • Fulfill the statutory expectations especially as it relates to curriculum and safeguarding of children.
  • Ensure the effective deployment of staff within the main School site and in partnership sites.
  • Support the consistency of approaches to maintain and improve levels of good behavior.
  • Manage organizational change effectively.
  • Be responsible for the improvement of the School and ensure that action plans are in place and monitored effectively.
  • Ensure that all annual reports, IEPS and reviews are of a high standard and meet statutory frameworks.
  • Play a key role in defining and maintaining a self-evaluation framework, with clearly identified strengths and areas of development in order to ensure and inform a high level of school improvement and high standards.  
  • Collaborate and work with other agencies in providing for the academic, health, social, cultural and moral well being of children and their families.
  • Ensure that the learning experiences of the children is linked to the external community and embedded in the community in which they live.
  • Promote and model good relationships with parents and carers, which are based on a partnership to support student achievement and promote parenting skills.
