Special Educational Needs coordinator in Abuja - International School in Nigeria 
 
My client is looking for a Headteacher to join this fully accredited British school located in the city of Abuja.
The successful candidate will join be joining the leadership team in September 2018.
 
This established International school is proudly a non-profit school and welcomes around 800 students each year. The school delivers the Cambridge curriculum and the Nigerian National Curriculum. 
 
Class sizes are small, and students are very keen to learn.
 
Job duties:
**Deliver the School’s Vision, Mission and Core Values
**Implement the School Development Plan (SDP)
**Is tech-savvy to engage and promote the use of technology throughout the organisation
**Build a strong community spirit within the school
**Maximise the school’s development by identifying future resource requirements 
**Periodically review the provision of health, safety and security procedures throughout the school and liaise with appropriate authorities on security matters
**Ensure that systems are in place for monitor and extend pupil progress across the school
**Ensure the implementation of the curriculum 
**Maintain positive, cooperative and mutually supportive relationship with staff, parents and the community.
**Promote the school including the management of special events to be staged at the school, by the school, or involving students from the school;
**Develop excellent professional relationships with feeder schools, developing strong links with all major international schools in Nigeria and with worldwide higher education establishments
**Perform any duties that are within the scope of employment and certifications, as assigned by the Governing Council and The Board and not otherwise prohibited by law or in conflict with contract.
**Is a problem solver and able to resolve matters in a calm, considerate and unbiased manner.

Requirements to apply:
To take a strategic overview of all forms of support designed to ensure pupils
with special educational needs (SEN) achieve success
To ensure that the needs of all pupils with SEN are met and that they are
supported to make good progress
To offer practical support and advice to class teachers, enabling them to offer high-quality provision to SEN pupils
To offer support and advice to learning support assistants, enabling them to offer
high-quality provision to statemented pupils
To coordinate the school’s responsibilities during the statutory assessment
the process, with a view to ensuring that pupils with a high level of need obtain an
educational statement
To support and advise the parents of pupils on the SEN Register, and particularly
those parents whose children have an educational statement 
To undertake a designated programme of teaching across all key stages
Teach consistently high-quality lessons as highlighted in the new Teaching Standards
Act as a role model through an open door policy in lessons and modelling best practice
To maintain appropriate records and to provide relevant accurate and up-to-date information for SIMs,
registers
To maintain discipline in accordance with the school procedures, and to encourage good practice with
regard to punctuality, behaviour, standards of work and homework
Update professional knowledge and expertise as appropriate to keep up to date with developments in
teaching practice and methodology in general, and in the curriculum areas taught in.
Ensuring a high-quality learning environment within the curriculum areas taught in
Plan and deliver schemes of work and lessons that meet the requirements of classes taught
Be a role model for SEND students, inspiring them to be actively interested in subjects taught
To maintain appropriate records and to provide relevant, accurate and up-to-date information for SIMs
registers
To ensure the effective/efficient deployment of classroom support in the classroom
Follow schemes of work for subjects taught at all Key Stages
Promote aspects of Personal Development relevant to SEND students
Promote student learning through involvement in out of hours activities
Ensuring a high-quality learning environment within the SEND area

Minimum Application Requirements

Qualification:
Minimum Qualification Requirement: B.Ed, BA Degree with a relevant PGCE (QTS/GTC/GTP)
Type of Staff:

Must be western trained (USA, Canada, UK, Scotland, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand & South Africa)
Must be a native speaker of English
A Newly Qualified Teachers program is not provided
Prefer candidates with international experience
Open University qualification(s) are NOT accepted
Teachers with a degree but no teaching qualification are NOT accepted
Experienced teachers with no qualification are NOT accepted
Non-western trained teachers who have worked in an international educational institute before are NOT accepted

Remuneration Package

Salary Range:
Salary is negotiable based on experience and qualification, TAX FREE
