Job Description:
-
To take a strategic overview of all forms of support designed to ensure pupils
-
with special educational needs (SEN) achieve success
-
To ensure that the needs of all pupils with SEN are met and that they are
-
supported to make good progress
-
To offer practical support and advice to class teachers, enabling them to offer
-
High-quality provision to SEN pupils
-
To offer support and advice to learning support assistants, enabling them to offer high-quality provision to statemented pupils
-
To coordinate the school’s responsibilities during the statutory assessment
-
the process, with a view to ensuring that pupils with a high level of need obtain an educational statement
-
To support and advise the parents of pupils on the SEN Register, and particularly those parents whose children have an educational statement
-
To undertake a designated programme of teaching across all key stages
-
Teach consistently high-quality lessons as highlighted in the new Teaching Standards
-
Act as a role model through an open door policy in lessons and modelling best practice
-
To maintain appropriate records and to provide relevant accurate and up-to-date information for SIMs, registers
-
To maintain discipline in accordance with the school procedures, and to encourage good practice with regard to punctuality, behaviour, standards of work and homework
-
Update professional knowledge and expertise as appropriate to keep up to date with developments in teaching practice and methodology in general, and in the curriculum areas taught in.

Ensuring a high quality learning environment within the curriculum areas taught in plan and deliver schemes of work and lessons that meet the requirements of classes taught

Be a role model for SEND students, inspiring them to be actively interested in subjects taught

To maintain appropriate records and to provide relevant, accurate and up-to-date information for SIMs registers

To ensure the effective/efficient deployment of classroom support in the classroom
-
Follow schemes of work for subjects taught at all Key Stages
-
Promote aspects of Personal Development relevant to SEND students
-
Promote student learning through involvement in out of hours activities

Ensuring a high-quality learning environment within the SEND area
