This established British International School located in Lagos is seeking to appoint a strong and committed Head of Department to join the communication team and lead the English and Modern Foreign Languages.
As a Head of English and MFL, you will report to the Deputy Head and will have the oppportunity to lead the MFL Department.
Job Duties:
Carry out the general and specific professional duties as set out in the School staff manual.
Formulate policies which take forward teaching and learning within the Faculty.
Beacquainted with all curricular and administrative matters related to the department.
With other senior staff, participate in, contribute to and/or lead pedagogic and strategic discussions in order to support and sustain improvements both within the Faculty and at a whole school level, within the context of the School’s Development Plan.
Support actively the school’s strategic vision and gain a commitment to this ethos amongst all Faculty staff.
Meet with the GET & SMT to discuss and decide upon Faculty and appropriate whole school issues, in line with the school’s stated ethos and strategic vision.
Devise an annual Faculty Plan and implement strategies within the Faculty in support of the School’s Development Plan (SDP)
Implement strategies to ensure the efficient running of the Faculty, in support of school policies and procedures.
Requirements:
**BA Degree in English or related subject
**Minimum of two years experience in leadership
**Teaching qualification in English
**Strong knowledge in the UK curriculum
**Abilty to adapt to a different culture
