Deputy Head of School and Primary Principal
 
Our client is a one of the leading schools in Zambia delivering the UK National Curriculum. The Principal has done an outstanding job of raising the schools profile in the region and it is now the leading international school and delivering at capacity. 
 
The Principal will be attending London January 13th to interview a strong, confident, dynamic, friendly and high achieving Primary Principal to join his team from August 2016.  This will be the ideal opportunity for you to meet and ask question in person.
 
Interviews will be held in Canary Wharf, London and full details will be given if you are shortlisted for this role. In person interviews will be done at the first instance and skype interviews may be considered later
 
As a Primary Principal you will have excellent knowledge of the UK National Curriculum of England and Wales and have a proven track record of raising attainment in a Primary setting. We are after someone who is energetic and if you have worked in Africa before this will be beneficial for you.  You will be a leader that will work closely with the principal to achieve short, medium and long term goals in accordance with the schools vision and mission. 
 
Job Description for Deputy Head of School
1. Actively develop, promulgate and transmit key values and traditions 
2. Actively engage and develop relationships with parents 
3. Actively link with all formal Board reporting, governance and oversight structures, designing strategic processes and leveraging consultation forums for development
4. Provide a high level of financial knowledge and input to school financial planning and budgeting  
5. Offer established regional and international networking of school resources providers 
6. Offer established regional and continental networking with other internationals schools 
7. Develop new and maintain and cultivate existing relevant and appropriate community networks and relationships within and beyond the school environment
8. Act as CIE Head of Centre and develop a Cambridge association in Zambia with the aim of chairing such association
9. Develop knowledge of and nurture working relationships with 
a. local and national statutory bodies such as city council, immigration and education authorities 
b. NGOs, high commissions and embassies 
c. local, regional and international independent international curriculum schools
d. a range of international educational bodies associations
10. Assist in strategically planning, motivating, and overseeing options for the establishment of extended curriculum offerings including
a. a compelling modern Performance Arts programme
b. External language courses
11. Offer experience in project management for current and strategic site developments, developing knowledge of local conditions and systems for school resources management
12. Show a passion and lead the commitment and support for the ongoing development of LICS’ competitive sports programme 
13. Assist with school CIS accreditation processes 
14. Offer a knowledge and experience of a range of international accreditation bodies including NEASC and IQAA.
15. Design HR marketing opportunities
16. Design implementation and review of HR selection, recruitment and retention strategies in line with defined succession planning and critical institutional knowledge transfer
 
 
Primary Principal: (To be read in conjunction with the Performance Charter)
 
1. Lead, develop and manage the Primary Department of LICS in an inspired, motivated and dynamic way.
2. Provide professional leadership that focuses the school culture on enhancing learning and teaching.
3. Create a learning environment in which there is an expectation that all students will experience success in learning.
4. Strive for optimal academic performance from each student by maintaining teaching standards and quality in staff.
5. Strengthen communication and relationships to enhance student learning.
6. Lead the pastoral care team and have an overall knowledge of the needs of all students.
7. Provide and nurture a caring and supportive environment.
8. Drive participation in and support for the sporting, arts and broader co‐curricular programme and ensure effective functioning within the school day.
9. Raise participation in and support the Educational Outreach and Community Service efforts of the school.
10. Develop and grow the Primary School into the school of choice for LICS primary and other students.
 
Deputy Head of School and Primary Principal ‐ Package Structure
1. Basic salary: USD 72,000 pa (net around $46,800)
2. 10% gratuity on 24 month contract basic earnings
3. Furnished accommodation with USD 2,500 equivalent allowance for housing
4. Settling in allowance: USD1,000
5. Monthly utilities allowance up to ZMW 1,000 
6. Local medical and evacuation cover for self and family through school scheme (Promed)
7. Cheapest economy flight to Lusaka from place of recruitment/home base at commencement and end of contract for spouse and dependent children up to the age of 18
8. Baggage allowance at start of contract from place of recruitment – USD 2,500 and allowance at end of completed contract to place of recruitment – USD 2,500
9. Interest-free car loan 
10. 100% discount on school fees for up to two dependent children
11. Monthly mobile phone allowance – ZMW 500
12. Monthly Fuel allowance – ZMW 1000
13. Full contribution towards statutory National Pension Scheme

Remuneration Package

Salary Range:
A salary up to $46,800  USD (U.S. Dollar) per annum based on experience and qualification, TAX FREE
