Weather & Climate

Split into three main sections, the Climate of Spain is varied greatly and features Oceanic, Semiarid and Mediterranean climates. These occur typically in North East, Central and South West Spain respectively.

The Oceanic climate of North East Spain sees cities like Bilbao with temperatures ranging from as low as 5 degrees Centigrade (41 degrees Fahrenheit) between the months of December and February, to as high as 26 degrees Centigrade (78.8 degrees Fahrenheit) between the months of July and September. Additionally, rain is evenly spread throughout the year with the highest rainfall reaching up to 141mm between November and January, and as low as 62mm between June and August.

Central Spain tends to have the most varied conditions with a Semiarid Climate, and cities including Murcia may see temperatures as high as 34 degrees Centigrade (93.2 degrees Fahrenheit) between the months of June and September, to as low as 4 degrees Centigrade (39.2 degrees Fahrenheit) between the months of December and February. Rainfall is incredibly sparse in the region with little variation during the year, the highest rainfall is between the months of September and November at up to 44mm, but this may also be as low as 5mm between the months of June and August.

South West Spain sees the Mediterranean climate type and cities such as Malaga see temperatures between the months of July and September as high as 30 degrees Centigrade (86 degrees Fahrenheit) to as low as 7 degrees Centigrade (44.6 degrees Fahrenheit) between the months of December and February. Rainfall is also reflective of the heat with rain being as low as 2mm between June and August and the height of the wet season being between November and January at up to 95mm.
